- You are altogether beautiful, my love;
there is no flaw in you. - You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him. You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.
- For the Lord your God will bless you, as he promised you, and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow, and you shall rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over you.
- Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?”
For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. - You are my hiding place and my shield;
I hope in your word. - But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
- For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence,
for my hope is from him. - Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.
- When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you. - Before the mountains were brought forth,
or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God. - As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.
- But when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”
- If anyone sins, doing any of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, though he did not know it, then realizes his guilt, he shall bear his iniquity.
- For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
- Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,
and establish the work of our hands upon us;
yes, establish the work of our hands! - Because you are precious in my eyes,
and honored, and I love you,
I give men in return for you,
peoples in exchange for your life. - And those who know your name put their trust in you,
for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you. - O Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you; I will praise your name,
for you have done wonderful things,
plans formed of old, faithful and sure. - Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
- I will never forget your precepts,
for by them you have given me life. - You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
- I, I am he who comforts you;
who are you that you are afraid of man who dies,
of the son of man who is made like grass. - Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
- For it is you who light my lamp;
the Lord my God lightens my darkness. - But you, O Lord, are a shield about me,
my glory, and the lifter of my head.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!
Let your glory be over all the earth!Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.Next verse!With image
