- Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war rise up against me,
yet I will be confident. - This means understanding that the law is laid down not for the innocent but for the lawless and disobedient, for the godless and sinful, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their father or mother, for murderers, fornicators, sodomites, slave traders, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to the sound teaching that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.
- The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the decrees of the Lord are sure,
making wise the simple. - All who obey his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit that he has given us.
- I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love.
- Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
- Our God is in the heavens;
he does whatever he pleases. - And those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
- Therefore let us go on toward perfection, leaving behind the basic teaching about Christ, and not laying again the foundation: repentance from dead works and faith toward God, instruction about baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.

for the living God.
When shall I come and behold
the face of God? - Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?
- Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.
- God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble. - God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
- For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
- For who is God except the Lord?
And who is a rock besides our God? - Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and put a new and right spirit within me. - For who is God, but the Lord?
And who is a rock, except our God? - Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come unless the rebellion comes first and the lawless one is revealed, the one destined for destruction. He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, declaring himself to be God.
- Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace among those whom he favors! - Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
- Though the fig tree does not blossom,
and no fruit is on the vines;
though the produce of the olive fails
and the fields yield no food;
though the flock is cut off from the fold
and there is no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will exult in the God of my salvation. - And my God will fully satisfy every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
- Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.
