- Dear children,
let us love not in word or speech
but in deed and truth. - This is how everyone will know
that you are my disciples:
if you love one another. - I reprove and discipline all those whom I love. Therefore, be sincere in your desire to repent.
- May the Lord cause your love to increase and overflow for one another and for everyone else, just as our love does for you.
- Rend your hearts and not your garments,
and turn back to the Lord, your God.
For he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, rich in kindness,
and always prepared to relent from punishing. - Love one another with genuine affection. Esteem others more highly than yourself.
- But I say to you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
- Over all these put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
- What god can compare with you,
the God who takes away guilt
and forgives the transgressions
of the remnant of your people?
You will not allow your anger to fester forever,
for your delight is in bestowing mercy. - For from the beginning
you have heard the message
that we should love one another. - With all humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another in a spirit of love.
- You are all-beautiful, my love,
without the slightest blemish. - And ‘to love him with all your heart, and with all your understanding, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself,’ is worth more than any burnt offerings and sacrifices.
- For God did not give us a spirit of timidity but rather a spirit of power and of love and of wisdom.
- May the Lord guide your hearts to the love of God and the steadfastness of Christ.
- For the entire Law can be summed up in a single commandment: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
- In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they do their own bodies. The man who loves his wife loves himself.
- Owe nothing to anyone except the debt of love you owe one another. The one who loves others has fulfilled the Law.
- Rather, professing truth and love, we will in all things grow into him who is the head, Christ.
- Jesus answered him,
“Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him,
and we will come to him
and make our abode with him.” - The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.
- This is what love is:
not that we have loved God,
but that he loved us
and sent his Son as expiation for our sins. - Anyone who has received my commandments
and observes them
is the one who loves me.
And whoever loves me
will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him
and reveal myself to him. - However, each one of you should love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife should respect her husband.
- Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
