- When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
- The Lord gives strength to his people;
the Lord blesses his people with peace. - Do not make any gods to be alongside me; do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold.
- The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.
- Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
- I spread out my hands to you;
I thirst for you like a parched land. - I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.” - My lips will shout for joy
when I sing praise to you—
I whom you have delivered. - And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
- Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
- But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
- There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death. - For I am the Lord your God
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you. - About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.
- Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing
without revealing his plan
to his servants the prophets. - Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”
- “And with you, Lord, is unfailing love”;
and, “You reward everyone
according to what they have done.” - And, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.
- Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
- Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.”
- But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord,
I wait for God my Savior;
my God will hear me. - I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors:
You have given me wisdom and power,
you have made known to me what we asked of you,
you have made known to us the dream of the king. - So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?” - I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples. - I will sing to the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.Next verse!With image
