| Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. | Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. |
| For the Lord is our judge, our lawgiver, and our king. He will care for us and save us. | For the Lord is our Judge, The Lord is our Lawgiver, The Lord is our King; He will save us. |
| And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful! | And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands. |

| By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. | As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue. |
| No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. | Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. |
| See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. | Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! | And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. | Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. |
| He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. | As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. |
| For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the Lord our God has given us. | Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the Lord our God, as He has commanded us. |
| And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. | And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. |
| And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day. | And the Lord commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day. |
| But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. | But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. | For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. |
| And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. | And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. |
| But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) | But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved). |
| “As I began to speak,” Peter continued, “the Holy Spirit fell on them, just as he fell on us at the beginning.” | And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning. |
| He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession. | Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. |
| And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. | Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. |
| But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. | But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. |
| And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. | Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. |
| Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. | For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. |
| We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord. | Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification. |
