- Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord,
for our hope is in you alone. - Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
- Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom. - And may the Lord our God show us his approval
and make our efforts successful.
Yes, make our efforts successful! - For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
- For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.
- And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
- And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.
- By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
- See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.
- No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
- He has removed our sins as far from us
as the east is from the west. - And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day.
- Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
- He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.
- So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.
- For a child is born to us,
a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
- And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
- But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
- But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
- “As I began to speak,” Peter continued, “the Holy Spirit fell on them, just as he fell on us at the beginning.”
- For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the Lord our God has given us.
- Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
- Please, Lord, please save us.
Please, Lord, please give us success.
