- May the Lord our God be with us as he was with our ancestors; may he never leave us nor forsake us.

and let us return to the Lord. - All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
- For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
- Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
- May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
establish the work of our hands for us—
yes, establish the work of our hands. - The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
- Who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
- And walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
- May God bless us still,
so that all the ends of the earth will fear him. - Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
- May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
even as we put our hope in you. - Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom. - His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

- See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

- And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
- Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
