- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
- So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.
- But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed. - All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
- And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
- I was ready to be sought by those who did not ask for me;
I was ready to be found by those who did not seek me.
I said, “Here I am, here I am,”
to a nation that was not called by my name. - In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
- I cried to him with my mouth,
and high praise was on my tongue. - By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.
- Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
- He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
and as one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not. - The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers. May he not leave us or forsake us.
- Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.
- And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry.
- And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.
- And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
- “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
- So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
- And he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven.
- For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
- Now John wore a garment of camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.
- Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness:
He was manifested in the flesh,
vindicated by the Spirit,
seen by angels,
proclaimed among the nations,
believed on in the world,
taken up in glory. - This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone.
- For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
- And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.”
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to man but to God.”Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
