- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
- Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,

To a nation that was not called by My name. - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
- What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before?
- By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.
- May the Lord our God be with us, as He was with our fathers. May He not leave us nor forsake us.

- He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. - Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.
- Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
- Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.
- So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.
- For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.
- “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
- And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.
- For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.
- And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifested in the flesh,
Justified in the Spirit,
Seen by angels,
Preached among the Gentiles,
Believed on in the world,
Received up in glory. - This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’
When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.”
