| This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. | For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. |
| And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. | Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. |
| You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law. | We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. |
| Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way. | For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. |
| Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith. | As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. |
| We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. | And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope. |

| For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. | For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. |
| That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. | For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. |
| So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” | So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. |
| Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God. | Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. |
| Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name. | Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee. |
| We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him. | And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. |
| We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. | And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. |
| Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. | Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. |
| See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. | Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. |
| No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us. | No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. |
| This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. | This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. |
| But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. | But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. |

| No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. | Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. |
| There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. | Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. |
| This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. | Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. |
| He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession. | Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. |
