We (2/4)

  • Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.
  • But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations.
  • Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
  • But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!
  • Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
  • This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.
  • But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
  • For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
  • So we fasted and earnestly prayed that our God would take care of us, and he heard our prayer.
  • Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom.
  • Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.
  • For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.
  • When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.
  • For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.
  • But for us,
There is one God, the Father,
by whom all things were created,
    and for whom we live.
And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ,
through whom all things were created,
    and through whom we live.
  • And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
  • Turn us again to yourself, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies.
Make your face shine down upon us.
Only then will we be saved.
  • Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord,
for our hope is in you alone.
  • Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.
  • What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?
  • So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
  • Please, Lord, please save us.
Please, Lord, please give us success.
Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
We bless you from the house of the Lord.
  • This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another.
  • But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.
  • For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the Lord our God has given us.

You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.
