| Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. | Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. |
| Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. | But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. | But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. |
| So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. | So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. |
| This is what I told them: ‘Obey me, and I will be your God, and you will be my people. | All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. | All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. |
| But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! | If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. |
| Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! | Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. |
