Wherefore (2/2)

  • Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.
  • For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says,
    ‘The stone that you builders rejected
    has now become the cornerstone.’
  • Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
  • O God, you are my God;
    I earnestly search for you.
    My soul thirsts for you;
    my whole body longs for you
    in this parched and weary land
    where there is no water.
  • No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house.
  • Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!
  • But he knows where I am going.
    And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.
    For I have stayed on God’s paths;
    I have followed his ways and not turned aside.
  • But the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body.”
  • For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
  • On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.
  • For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.
  • Where is another God like you,
    who pardons the guilt of the remnant,
    overlooking the sins of his special people?
    You will not stay angry with your people forever,
    because you delight in showing unfailing love.
  • Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry.
  • Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.”
  • Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”
  • This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
  • No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
  • “Listen,” he said, “we’re going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence him to die. Then they will hand him over to the Romans to be mocked, flogged with a whip, and crucified. But on the third day he will be raised from the dead.”
  • Observe the requirements of the Lord your God, and follow all his ways. Keep the decrees, commands, regulations, and laws written in the Law of Moses so that you will be successful in all you do and wherever you go.
  • You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of complete rest, an official day for holy assembly. It is the Lord’s Sabbath day, and it must be observed wherever you live.
