| But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. | When Jesus heard this, he said, “It is not the healthy who need a physician, but rather those who are sick.” |

| Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. | Dear children, you are from God and you have conquered them, for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. |

| But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth. | If anyone would boast, let him boast in the Lord. For it is not the one who commends himself who is really approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. |
| Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. | He is the reflection of God’s glory and the perfect expression of his very being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. Achieving purification from sins, he took his seat at the right hand of the Majesty on high. |
| He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he. | The one who pays heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord. |
| Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock. | Everyone who hears these words of mine and acts in accordance with them will be like a wise man who constructed his house on a rock foundation. |
| For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. | Indeed, the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. |
| He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. | Anyone who has received my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him. |
| But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. | But I say to you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. |
| But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. | However, to those who did accept him and who believed in his name he granted the power to become children of God. |
| A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. | The future bodes well for him who is generous in helping those in need and who conducts his affairs with justice. |
| Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. | Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not demand the return of what is yours from the one who has taken it. |
| And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. | Have no fear of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, fear the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. |
| Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him. The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy. | Because I delivered the poor who appealed for help and the orphan who had no one to protect him. The blessing of the wretched was given to me, and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy. |
| But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. | If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, then the one who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwells in you. |
| There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. | No trial has confronted you except what a person can stand. God is faithful, and he will not allow you to be tried beyond your strength. But together with the trial he will also provide a way out and the strength to bear it. |
| Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. | Speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves, and defend the rights of the destitute. |
| Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord. | Be strong and courageous in your hearts, all you who place your hope in the Lord. |
| And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great. | And said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. For the one who is least among all of you is the one who is the greatest.” |
| And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. | And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who are peacemakers. |
| I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. | In the same way, I tell you, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance. |
