| But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. | He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. |

| If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? | But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? |
| Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble. | He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed. |
| Keep the commandments and keep your life; despising them leads to death. | He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, But he who is careless of his ways will die. |
| Let those who are wise understand these things. Let those with discernment listen carefully. The paths of the Lord are true and right, and righteous people live by walking in them. But in those paths sinners stumble and fall. | Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the Lord are right; The righteous walk in them, But transgressors stumble in them. |
| Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. | He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. |
| If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. | And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. |
| But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. | And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved. |
| You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! | Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ | He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. |
| And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. | And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. |
