Bible Verses about 'Why do bad things happen'

  • Why are you so disheartened, O my soul?
Why do you sigh within me?
    Place your hope in God;
for I will once again praise him,
    my Savior and my God.
  • Why do you take note of the splinter in your brother’s eye but do not notice the wooden plank in your own eye?
  • Do not let anyone lead you astray. “Bad company corrupts good morals.”
  • Fix your thoughts on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth.
  • “All things are lawful,” you may say—but not all things are beneficial. All things may be lawful—but not all things are constructive.
  • I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’
  • I can do all things in him who strengthens me.
  • Love does not rejoice over wrongdoing
    but rejoices in the truth.
    Love bears all things,
    believes all things,
    hopes all things,
    endures all things.
  • Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be accomplished for him.
  • “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not allow myself to be dominated by anything.
  • Faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the conviction about things that cannot be seen.
  • I, I alone, am the one who comforts you.
Why then do you fear mortal men who must die,
human beings who must perish like grass?
  • And now, what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized, and have your sins washed away, calling on his name.
  • Do not assert that the past was better than the present,
for such a statement is not a sign of wisdom.
  • No, throughout all these things we are conquerors because of him who loved us.
  • For us there is
    one God, the Father,
    from whom all things are
    and for whom we exist,
    and one Lord, Jesus Christ,
    through whom all things are
    and through whom we exist.
  • Those who live according to the flesh fix their attention on the things of the flesh, while those who live according to the Spirit set their thoughts on spiritual things.
  • However, God has revealed these things to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit explores everything, even the depths of God.
  • God chose those in the world who were lowly and despised, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who were regarded as worthy, so that no one could boast in the presence of God.
  • You might say to yourself, “How can we know that the Lord did not speak the message?” If what the prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord is not true and it does not happen, then the message was not proclaimed by the Lord. The prophet has spoken presumptuously, you should not fear him.
  • Do the things that you have learned, received, and heard from me and that you saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
  • He has satisfied the thirsty
and filled the hungry with good things.
  • For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
  • Jesus answered, “If it is possible! All things are possible for one who has faith.”
  • For our eyes are fixed not on what is seen but rather on that which cannot be seen. What is visible is transitory; what is invisible is eternal.

And we are witnesses to these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.

Bible verse of the day

When you pray do not go on babbling endlessly as the pagans do, for they believe that they are more likely to be heard because of their many words.
