Bible Verses about 'Why do bad things happen'

Why are you so disheartened, O my soul? Why do you sigh within me? Place your hope in God; for I will once again praise him, my Savior and my God.Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Why do you take note of the splinter in your brother’s eye but do not notice the wooden plank in your own eye?And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Do not let anyone lead you astray. “Bad company corrupts good morals.”Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
Fix your thoughts on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth.Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
“All things are lawful,” you may say—but not all things are beneficial. All things may be lawful—but not all things are constructive. All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
And now, what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized, and have your sins washed away, calling on his name. And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
I can do all things in him who strengthens me.I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Love does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices in the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be accomplished for him.For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not allow myself to be dominated by anything. All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
Faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the conviction about things that cannot be seen. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
I, I alone, am the one who comforts you. Why then do you fear mortal men who must die, human beings who must perish like grass?I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass.
Do not assert that the past was better than the present, for such a statement is not a sign of wisdom.Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.
While he was departing as they gazed upward toward the sky, suddenly two men dressed in white robes stood beside them, and they said, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking up into the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven.”And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
No, throughout all these things we are conquerors because of him who loved us.Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
For us there is one God, the Father, from whom all things are and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and through whom we exist. But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
Those who live according to the flesh fix their attention on the things of the flesh, while those who live according to the Spirit set their thoughts on spiritual things. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
You might say to yourself, “How can we know that the Lord did not speak the message?” If what the prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord is not true and it does not happen, then the message was not proclaimed by the Lord. The prophet has spoken presumptuously, you should not fear him.And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
However, God has revealed these things to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit explores everything, even the depths of God.But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
He has satisfied the thirsty and filled the hungry with good things. For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
God chose those in the world who were lowly and despised, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who were regarded as worthy, so that no one could boast in the presence of God.And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.
Do the things that you have learned, received, and heard from me and that you saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

Then Peter asked, “Ananias, why has Satan so gained control of your heart that you lied to the Holy Spirit and retained part of the sale price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not belong to you? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds yours? What caused you to contrive this scheme? You have lied not to men but to God.”But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
