- A soft answer turneth away wrath:
but grievous words stir up anger. - And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
- But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

- Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings;
and the years of thy life shall be many. - Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

- Excellent speech becometh not a fool:
much less do lying lips a prince. - My doctrine shall drop as the rain,
my speech shall distil as the dew,
as the small rain upon the tender herb,
and as the showers upon the grass.
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable:
but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
