- A soft answer turneth away wrath:
but grievous words stir up anger. - But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
- Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.
- And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
- Thy word is true from the beginning:
and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. - Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings;
and the years of thy life shall be many. - Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
- Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
- Excellent speech becometh not a fool:
much less do lying lips a prince. - My doctrine shall drop as the rain,
my speech shall distil as the dew,
as the small rain upon the tender herb,
and as the showers upon the grass.
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable:
but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.For thus saith the Lord unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live.
