- As knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine, according to the Good News of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
- Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom.
- You call me, ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord.’ You say so correctly, for so I am.
- So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God, being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone.
- Yours, Yahweh, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty! For all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, Yahweh, and you are exalted as head above all.
- Therefore Yahweh will wait, that he may be gracious to you; and therefore he will be exalted, that he may have mercy on you, for Yahweh is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him.
- That which makes a man to be desired is his kindness.
A poor man is better than a liar. - Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus also had been baptized and was praying. The sky was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form like a dove on him; and a voice came out of the sky, saying “You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased.”
- A cheerful heart makes good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. - He said, “That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man. For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual sins, murders, thefts, covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile the man.”
- House and riches are an inheritance from fathers,
but a prudent wife is from Yahweh. - “Be angry, and don’t sin.” Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil.
- One man esteems one day as more important. Another esteems every day alike. Let each man be fully assured in his own mind.
- Since you have been precious and honored in my sight,
and I have loved you,
therefore I will give people in your place,
and nations instead of your life. - Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth.
How good is a word at the right time! - You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.
- Iron sharpens iron;
so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance. - Let no one therefore judge you in eating or drinking, or with respect to a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day, which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Christ’s.
- Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you confessed the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.
- Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.
- A man’s steps are established by Yahweh.
He delights in his way. - These words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.
- For in him all the fullness of the Deity dwells bodily, and in him you are made full, who is the head of all principality and power.
- Depart from evil, and do good.
Seek peace, and pursue it. - But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.
