The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. | The Lord bless you and keep you. And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? | Now who is going to harm you if you are eager to do what is right? |

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. | Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth: it is better for you that I depart. For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you, whereas if I go, I will send him to you. |
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? | Do you not realize that you are God’s temple, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? |
For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. | For I am longing to see you so that I may bestow on you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— or, rather, so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine. |
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. | So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. |
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever. | And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever. |
And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. | And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do as much. |
And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house. | I did not hesitate to tell you what was for your benefit as I proclaimed the word to you and taught you publicly as well as from house to house. |
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. | I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. |
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. | Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled; be not afraid. |
Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. | Those of you who seek to be justified by the Law have cut yourselves off from Christ and have fallen away from grace. |
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. | I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you. I will remove from your body a heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh in its place. |
But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. | When they arrest you and bring you to trial, do not be concerned beforehand about what you are to say. Simply say whatever is given to you when that time comes, for it will not be you who speak but the Holy Spirit. |
Ye shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess. | Continue in all of the ways that the Lord, your God, has commanded you. Continue in them so that you may live and prosper and that you may long dwell on the land of your inheritance. |
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. | I will put my Spirit in you and make you follow my statutes and my ordinances. |
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. | When you call out to me and come forth and pray to me, I will listen to you. |
Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken. | Seek good and not evil, so that you may live. Then the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you as you claim he is. |
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. | You will not add to what I command you, nor will you take away from it, so that you might observe the commandments of the Lord, your God, that I am giving you. |
Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. | May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. |
That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed. | In that way, I can come to you in joy, if God so wills, and be refreshed together with you. |
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. | If you forgive others for the wrongs they have done, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. |
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. | This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you. |
But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant. | This must not be so with you. Instead, whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your servant. |
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. | When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; nor will the waters engulf you. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not consume you. |
