Fear not (3/4)

  • For the customs of the peoples are futile;
    For it is wood cut from the forest,
    The work of the hands of a craftsman with a cutting tool.
    They decorate the idol with silver and gold;
    They fasten it with nails and hammers
    So that it will not totter.
    They are like a scarecrow in a cucumber field,
    And they cannot speak;
    They must be carried,
    Because they cannot walk!
    Do not fear them,
    For they can do no harm,
    Nor can they do any good.
  • Do not judge, so that you will not be judged.
  • I have treasured Your word in my heart,
    So that I may not sin against You.
  • And the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.”
  • I, I Myself, am He who comforts you.
    Who are you that you are afraid of mortal man,
    And of a son of man who is made like grass.
  • And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.”
  • Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned.
  • The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
  • But when he had thought this over, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.”
  • But I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
  • He will not allow your foot to slip;
    He who watches over you will not slumber.
  • Pay to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor.
  • Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous; love does not brag, it is not arrogant. It does not act disgracefully, it does not seek its own benefit; it is not provoked, does not keep an account of a wrong suffered.
  • Opening his mouth, Peter said:
    “I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality,
    but in every nation the one who fears Him and does what is right is acceptable to Him.”
  • You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not give false testimony; Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
  • For we walk by faith, not by sight.
  • For this, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
  • And if you say in your heart, ‘How will we recognize the word which the Lord has not spoken?’ When the prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, and the thing does not happen or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you are not to be afraid of him.
  • But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, but with gentleness and respect.
  • God is not a man, that He would lie,
    Nor a son of man, that He would change His mind;
    Has He said, and will He not do it?
    Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
  • Not to us, Lord, not to us,
    But to Your name give glory,
    Because of Your mercy, because of Your truth.
  • What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? Far from it! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
  • And the one who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
  • The one who has the Son has the life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
  • But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.

The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him.
