- With his feathers he will shelter you,
and you will take refuge under his wings;
his faithfulness serves as a protective shield. - The one who pays heed to instruction prospers,
and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord. - I understand that man’s greatest happiness is to be glad and do well throughout his life. And when we eat and drink and find satisfaction in all our labors, this is a gift of God.
- Seek the Lord,
all you humble of the land
who obey his commands.
Seek righteousness, seek humility;
then perhaps you may find shelter
on the day of the Lord’s anger. - For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there will also be disharmony and every type of wickedness.
- For whoever finds me finds life
and receives favor from the Lord. - Seek the Lord while he still may be found;
call to him when he is close at hand. - I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your precepts. - In that way, I can come to you in joy, if God so wills, and be refreshed together with you.
- Then you will understand equity and justice
as well as righteousness—every good path. - In God alone be at rest, O my soul;
it is from him that my hope comes. - If you refrain from traveling on the Sabbath
and from engaging in your own interests on my holy day,
if you call the Sabbath a day of joy
and regard the Lord’s holy day as honorable,
if you honor it by not going your own way,
serving your own interests,
or attending to your own affairs;
then you will find true happiness in the Lord,
and I will enable you to ride
upon the heights of the earth.
I will nourish you with the heritage of your father Jacob,
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken. - Those who place their hope in the Lord
will regain their strength.
They will soar as with eagles’ wings,
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not become faint. - Jesus then said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to my Father. But go to my brethren and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”
- A fool takes no pleasure in understanding
but only delights in expressing his own opinions. - I love you, O Lord, my strength,
O Lord, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.
My God is my rock in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold. - Alleluia.
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his precepts. - You who abide in the shelter of the Most High,
who rest in the shadow of the Almighty,
say to the Lord, “You are my refuge and my fortress,
my God in whom I place my trust.” - Therefore, brethren, I implore you by the mercies of God to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice that is holy and acceptable to God—a spiritual act of worship.
- Remember your Creator in the days of your youth
before the bad times come
and the years draw near when you will say,
“I take no pleasure in them”.
