Giving to the need (2/4)

  • To do righteousness and justice
    is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
  • I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
    I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
  • The unfolding of your words gives light;
    it imparts understanding to the simple.
  • For your steadfast love is great to the heavens,
    your faithfulness to the clouds.
  • Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
    maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
  • Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.
  • Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    for his steadfast love endures forever!
  • Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
  • For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
  • Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;
    make known his deeds among the peoples!
  • The precepts of the Lord are right,
    rejoicing the heart;
    the commandment of the Lord is pure,
    enlightening the eyes.
  • Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously;
    let this be made known in all the earth.
  • And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”
  • Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
  • For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.
  • To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
  • But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.
  • You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you.
  • Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”
  • But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.
  • I lift up my eyes to the hills.
    From where does my help come?
    My help comes from the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth.
  • For so the Lord has commanded us, saying,
    ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles,
    that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’
  • By day the Lord commands his steadfast love,
    and at night his song is with me,
    a prayer to the God of my life.
  • But as for me, I will look to the Lord;
    I will wait for the God of my salvation;
    my God will hear me.
  • He said, “Then put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

Bible verse of the day

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
