- The entire community of believers was united in heart and soul. No one claimed any of his possessions as his own, for everything was held in common.

and does not scorn a neighbor. - Thus you could understand that the Lord, your God, was disciplining you, just like a father disciplines his son.
- May he give you your heart’s desire
and grant you success in all your plans. - But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or how tall he stands, for the Lord has rejected him. He does not see the way that men see, for men look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

- If anyone is rich in worldly possessions
and sees a brother in need
but refuses to open his heart,
how can the love of God abide in him? - Indeed, the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any two-edged sword, it pierces to the point where it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and the intentions of the heart.
