- Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom. - My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart
you, God, will not despise. - A person may think their own ways are right,
but the Lord weighs the heart. - The wise in heart accept commands,
but a chattering fool comes to ruin. - Before a downfall the heart is haughty,
but humility comes before honor. - Teach me your way, Lord,
that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name. - The tongue of the righteous is choice silver,
but the heart of the wicked is of little value. - The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
“I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.” - Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
- May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. - Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then I will be confident. - “Even now,” declares the Lord,
“return to me with all your heart,
with fasting and weeping and mourning.” - Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do.
- For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
- The precepts of the Lord are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes. - May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed. - Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
- If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
- But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
- Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.
- See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
- My son, pay attention to what I say;
turn your ear to my words.
Do not let them out of your sight,
keep them within your heart. - But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.
- Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.
- Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.This is what the Lord says to Israel: “Seek me and live.”
