- For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.
- But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him.
- Joyful are those who obey his laws
and search for him with all their hearts. - Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! - Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”
- And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.
- Every word of God proves true.
He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. - Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.
- So obey the commands of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and fearing him.
- And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame.
- But the Lord watches over those who fear him,
those who rely on his unfailing love. - I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death.
- Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.”
- The Lord is my strength and shield.
I trust him with all my heart.
He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. - The Lord is good,
a strong refuge when trouble comes.
He is close to those who trust in him. - The Lord is like a father to his children,
tender and compassionate to those who fear him. - Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.
- Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
and gave him the name above all other names,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth. - God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
- There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.
- But when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. They were all terrified when they saw him. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!”
- We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.
- And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.
- And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.
- After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him.
