those who walk in pride. - By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,

- So God created humankind in his image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them. - For the word of the Lord is upright,
and all his work is done in faithfulness. - For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will save it.
- Each of you, however, should love his wife as himself, and a wife should respect her husband.
- A wise child makes a glad father,
but a foolish child is a mother's grief. - When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.
- They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and after twisting some thorns into a crown, they put it on his head. They put a reed in his right hand and knelt before him and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
- Therefore keep the commandments of the Lord your God, by walking in his ways and by fearing him.
- For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.
- The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. - God's love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him.
- For ‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said,
‘For we too are his offspring.’ - The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
