- Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good.
- Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
- This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.
- If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
- Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!

and receives favor from the Lord. - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
- And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
- True humility and fear of the Lord
lead to riches, honor, and long life. - That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing.
- “Don’t you understand either?” he asked. “Can’t you see that the food you put into your body cannot defile you? Food doesn’t go into your heart, but only passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer.” (By saying this, he declared that every kind of food is acceptable in God’s eyes.)
- There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
- My child, listen to me and do as I say,
and you will have a long, good life. - Gentle words are a tree of life;
a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. - Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. - Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love
will find life, righteousness, and honor. - Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.
