Running over (2/4)

  • Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. Over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him a thousand years.
  • Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven.
  • The Lord will keep you from all evil;
    he will keep your life.
    The Lord will keep
    your going out and your coming in
    from this time on and forevermore.
  • Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity
    and passing over the transgression
    of the remnant of your possession?
    He does not retain his anger forever,
    because he delights in showing clemency.
  • Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.
  • And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And all ate and were filled. What was left over was gathered up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.
  • A highway shall be there,
    and it shall be called the Holy Way;
    the unclean shall not travel on it,
    but it shall be for God's people;
    no traveler, not even fools, shall go astray.
  • Unless the Lord builds the house,
    those who build it labor in vain.
    Unless the Lord guards the city,
    the guard keeps watch in vain.
  • Like a city breached, without walls,
    is one who lacks self-control.
  • When they bring you to trial and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say; but say whatever is given you at that time, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
  • Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
  • He will not let your foot be moved;
    he who keeps you will not slumber.
  • Yours, O Lord, are the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heavens and on the earth is yours; yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.
  • Guarding the paths of justice
    and preserving the way of his faithful ones.
  • Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing at all during those days, and when they were over, he was famished.
  • May God continue to bless us;
    let all the ends of the earth revere him.
  • For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
    and his ears are open to their prayer.
    But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
  • Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And just then there appeared a woman with a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and was quite unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Woman, you are set free from your ailment.” When he laid his hands on her, immediately she stood up straight and began praising God. But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had cured on the sabbath, kept saying to the crowd, “There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be cured, and not on the sabbath day.” But the Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to give it water? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the sabbath day?” When he said this, all his opponents were put to shame; and the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things that he was doing.
  • Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
    on those who hope in his steadfast love.
  • Who builds his upper chambers in the heavens,
    and founds his vault upon the earth;
    who calls for the waters of the sea,
    and pours them out upon the surface of the earth—
    the Lord is his name.
  • Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
    and those who love it will eat its fruits.
  • But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one.
  • The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
    and his ears are open to their cry.
  • Wealth hastily gotten will dwindle,
    but those who gather little by little will increase it.

A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches,
and favor is better than silver or gold.
