- I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. Now waiting for me is the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day—and not only to me, but to all those who have eagerly longed for his appearance.
- “Peace be with you,” Jesus said to them again.
“As the Father has sent me,
so I send you.” - Jesus then said to her,
“I am the resurrection and the life.
Whoever believes in me,
even though he dies, will live,
and everyone who lives
and believes in me
will never die.
Do you believe this?” - I myself did not know him,
but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,
‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest
is the one who is to baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ - He then called the people and his disciples to him and said to them, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”
- Return to me, says the Lord of hosts, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts.
- To you, O God of my fathers,
I offer thanks and praise
because you have given me wisdom and power.
Now you have made known to me
what we asked of you;
you have revealed to us the king’s dream. - “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not allow myself to be dominated by anything.
- Deliver me, O Lord, from lying lips
and from deceitful tongues. - Guide my steps in accord with your word
and never let evil triumph over me. - As for me, I trust in your kindness;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord
because he has been good to me. - I have chosen the way of faithfulness;
I have set your judgments before me. - In God, whose word I praise,
in God I place my trust and know no fear;
what can people do to me? - Do not make gods from silver or from gold instead of me. You will not make them for yourselves.
- Yet even now, says the Lord,
return to me with all your heart,
with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning. - If you know me,
then you will know my Father also.
From now on you do know him.
You have seen him. - Jesus then said,
“I will remain with you
only for a short time longer,
and then I shall return
to him who sent me.” - Jesus replied,
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father
except through me.” - Therefore, we can say with confidence:
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.
What can anyone do to me?” - But he answered me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” Hence, I will boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell within me.
- I am the gate.
Anyone who enters through me
will be saved.
He will go in and out
and will find pasture. - Whoever believes in me,
as Scripture has said,
‘Streams of living water
shall flow from within him.’ - The depths of the sea resound
in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and your breakers
sweep over me. - Behold, I am coming soon, and I will bring with me my reward to repay everyone as his deeds deserve.
- Call to me and I will answer you and reveal to you great and mysterious secrets about which you are unaware.
