- And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
- If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector.
- Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.
- Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom. - Until at last the Spirit is poured out
on us from heaven.
Then the wilderness will become a fertile field,
and the fertile field will yield bountiful crops. - I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.
- A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
- Now this is what the Lord says to the family of Israel:
“Come back to me and live!” - Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.”
- Finally, I confessed all my sins to you
and stopped trying to hide my guilt.
I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”
And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. - By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
- But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?
- Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
- But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.
- Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.”
- But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.
- The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right;
his ears are open to their cries for help. - The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers.
- The teaching of your word gives light,
so even the simple can understand. - Every word of God proves true.
He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. - Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever. - Then, by the will of God, I will be able to come to you with a joyful heart, and we will be an encouragement to each other.
- Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things.
Make known his praise around the world. - Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness.
Let the whole world know what he has done. - The Lord is close to all who call on him,
yes, to all who call on him in truth.
