- Salvation belongs to the Lord;
your blessing be on your people! Selah - I have made a covenant with my eyes;
how then could I gaze at a virgin? - Because I delivered the poor who cried for help,
and the fatherless who had none to help him.
The blessing of him who was about to perish came upon me,
and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy. - And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
- Restore us, O Lord God of hosts!
Let your face shine, that we may be saved! - How beautiful upon the mountains
are the feet of him who brings good news,
who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness,
who publishes salvation,
who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.” - For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - And you will say in that day:
“Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted.” - God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer's;
he makes me tread on my high places. - The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth. - If you will not listen, if you will not take it to heart to give honor to my name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart.
- And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
- But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
- Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
- On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying.
- One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
and to inquire in his temple. - I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’
- When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.
- By day the Lord commands his steadfast love,
and at night his song is with me,
a prayer to the God of my life. - I love the Lord, because he has heard
my voice and my pleas for mercy.
Because he inclined his ear to me,
therefore I will call on him as long as I live. - When your eyes light on it, it is gone,
for suddenly it sprouts wings,
flying like an eagle toward heaven. - Whom have I in heaven but you?
And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. - Out of my distress I called on the Lord;
the Lord answered me and set me free. - If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.
- Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
