Whoever (3/4)

  • Love prospers when a fault is forgiven,
    but dwelling on it separates close friends.
  • If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?
  • Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
  • Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God.
  • So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin.
  • Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
  • And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
  • The man who finds a wife finds a treasure,
    and he receives favor from the Lord.
  • I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and this bread, which I will offer so the world may live, is my flesh.
  • But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.
  • The generous will prosper;
    those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.
  • We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.
    God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
  • A person without self-control
    is like a city with broken-down walls.
  • Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin.”
  • To acquire wisdom is to love yourself;
    people who cherish understanding will prosper.
  • But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers.
  • And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.
  • The father of godly children has cause for joy.
    What a pleasure to have children who are wise.
  • Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears;
    wealth from hard work grows over time.
  • Too much talk leads to sin.
    Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.
  • But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
  • Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.
  • If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?
  • Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.
  • Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!

Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
