Chinese (traditional)And if then my people who bear my name humble themselves and pray to me and seek my presence as they turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear them from heaven and forgive their sins and restore their land. Do not associate with unbelievers. For what basis can there be for a partnership between righteousness and lawlessness? What do light and darkness have in common? It is better to have a little and fear the Lord
than to possess immense wealth and suffer anguish. Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. “But you,” he said to them, “who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Above all, maintain the fervor of your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. Indeed, the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any two-edged sword, it pierces to the point where it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and the intentions of the heart. “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and every other commandment are all summed up in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do as much. My soul longs for you throughout the night,
and my spirit within me seeks your presence.
For when your judgments are revealed to the earth,
the inhabitants of the world learn to practice justice. To do what is right and just
is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. Seek peace with everyone, as well as the holiness without which no one will ever see the Lord. Reflect on the Lord and his strength;
seek his face continually. Those who live according to the flesh can never be pleasing to God. The end of all things is near. Therefore, lead disciplined lives and be watchful in prayer. Make sure that no one pays back evil for evil. Rather, always aim to achieve what is best for each other and for everyone. He brought you low, allowing you to suffer from hunger. He then fed you with manna, something with which your fathers were not familiar, so that you might come to know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes forth from the mouth of the Lord. For so has the Lord commanded us to do, saying,
‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles
so that you may bring salvation
to the farthest corners of the earth.’ Everyone who hears these words of mine and acts in accordance with them will be like a wise man who constructed his house on a rock foundation. As a deer longs for running streams,
so my soul longs for you, O God. Bring the tithes in full into the treasury
so that there may be food in my house.
Put me thus to the test,
says the Lord of hosts,
and see if I will not open
the windows of heaven for you
and pour down blessings upon you
without measure. A man’s ways may seem right to him,
but the Lord weighs the heart. As we proceed in the path of your judgments,
we wait for you, O Lord;
your name and your renown
are all that our heart desires. Wait quietly for the Lord
and be patient until he comes.
Do not fret over the man who prospers
because of his evil schemes. Take delight in the Lord,
and he will grant you what your heart desires. I rejoice in the Lord with all my heart;
my soul exults in my God.
For he has clothed me in garments of salvation
and wrapped me in a robe of saving justice,
like a bridegroom adorned with a garland
or a bride bedecked with her jewels. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. A good man produces good from the store of goodness in his heart, whereas an evil man produces evil from the store of evil within him. For the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart. Indeed, fornication and impurity of any kind, as well as greed, should not even be mentioned among you. Such talk is not fitting for saints. And now, dear children,
abide in him,
so that when he appears
we may have confidence
and not be put to shame by him
at his coming. He did not spare his own Son but gave him up for all of us. How then can he fail also to give us everything else along with him?
