Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. But they that wait upon the Lord
shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint. Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. For thou wilt light my candle:
the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. O Lord, thou art my God;
I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name;
for thou hast done wonderful things;
thy counsels of old
are faithfulness and truth. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. Thou art my hiding place;
thou shalt preserve me from trouble;
thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation. What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. The rich man's wealth is his strong city,
and as an high wall in his own conceit. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. For a thousand years in thy sight
are but as yesterday when it is past,
and as a watch in the night. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Commit thy works unto the Lord,
and thy thoughts shall be established. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. I will praise thee with uprightness of heart,
when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints. He only is my rock and my salvation:
he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
