Food (2/2)

  • I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God.
  • “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
    That there may be food in My house,
    And try Me now in this,”
    Says the Lord of hosts,
    “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
    And pour out for you such blessing
    That there will not be room enough to receive it.
  • Remove falsehood and lies far from me;
    Give me neither poverty nor riches—
    Feed me with the food allotted to me.
  • All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.
  • Here is what I have seen: It is good and fitting for one to eat and drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor in which he toils under the sun all the days of his life which God gives him; for it is his heritage.
  • Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
  • I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
  • On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.”
  • As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God.
  • So He said to them, “Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him, because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, thus purifying all foods?”
  • He answered and said to them, “He who has two tunics, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.”
  • Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?
  • As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me.
  • Now John himself was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey.
  • The vine has dried up,
    And the fig tree has withered;
    The pomegranate tree,
    The palm tree also,
    And the apple tree—
    All the trees of the field are withered;
    Surely joy has withered away from the sons of men.
  • When they had pasture, they were filled;
    They were filled and their heart was exalted;
    Therefore they forgot Me.
  • Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.
