- He who withholds kindness from a friend
forsakes the fear of the Almighty. - For I know that my Redeemer lives,
and at the last he will stand upon the earth. - I have not departed from the commandment of his lips;
I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food. - But he knows the way that I take;
when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.
My foot has held fast to his steps;
I have kept his way and have not turned aside. - The Almighty—we cannot find him;
he is great in power;
justice and abundant righteousness he will not violate. - Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, “Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”
- And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
- I have made a covenant with my eyes;
how then could I gaze at a virgin? - Behold, blessed is the one whom God reproves;
therefore despise not the discipline of the Almighty. - And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
