Law (2/5)

And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.
For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God.Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
If you love me, obey my commandments. If you love me, keep my commands.
Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
Well then, am I suggesting that the law of God is sinful? Of course not! In fact, it was the law that showed me my sin. I would never have known that coveting is wrong if the law had not said, “You must not covet.”What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
Observe the requirements of the Lord your God, and follow all his ways. Keep the decrees, commands, regulations, and laws written in the Law of Moses so that you will be successful in all you do and wherever you go.Observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go.
Do not judge others, and you will not be judged.Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
He proclaimed his covenant—the Ten Commandments—which he commanded you to keep, and which he wrote on two stone tablets. He declared to you his covenant, the Ten Commandments, which he commanded you to follow and then wrote them on two stone tablets.
Those who love your instructions have great peace and do not stumble.Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.
Remember, you must not make any idols of silver or gold to rival me.Do not make any gods to be alongside me; do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold.
Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us.The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.
Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
The wise are glad to be instructed, but babbling fools fall flat on their faces. The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin.
I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches.I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.
But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations. We have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws.
You must diligently obey the commands of the Lord your God—all the laws and decrees he has given you.Be sure to keep the commands of the Lord your God and the stipulations and decrees he has given you.
Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ. So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty. Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.
God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor? There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?
Praise the Lord! How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands.Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands.

I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life.I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life.

Bible verse of the day

For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.
