Law (3/5)

  • And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
  • You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name.
  • For this is the message you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
  • We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by doing the works of the law, because no one will be justified by the works of the law.
  • Let it be known to you therefore, my brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you; by this Jesus everyone who believes is set free from all those sins from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.
  • Turn my heart to your decrees,
    and not to selfish gain.
  • You must neither add anything to what I command you nor take away anything from it, but keep the commandments of the Lord your God with which I am charging you.
  • Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.
  • I the Lord am your God; follow my statutes, and be careful to observe my ordinances, and hallow my sabbaths that they may be a sign between me and you, so that you may know that I the Lord am your God.
  • The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain, and wait there; and I will give you the tablets of stone, with the law and the commandment, which I have written for their instruction.”
  • There is one lawgiver and judge who is able to save and to destroy. So who, then, are you to judge your neighbor?
  • The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
    all those who practice it have a good understanding.
    His praise endures forever.
  • Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
  • The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the upright,
    but destruction for evildoers.
  • I shall walk at liberty,
    for I have sought your precepts.
  • You shall not murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; Honor your father and mother; also, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
  • They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.
  • Thus you shall keep my commandments and observe them: I am the Lord.
  • I do not nullify the grace of God; for if justification comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.
  • But now, apart from law, the righteousness of God has been disclosed, and is attested by the law and the prophets, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction.
  • If any of you sin without knowing it, doing any of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, you have incurred guilt, and are subject to punishment.
  • If only they had such a mind as this, to fear me and to keep all my commandments always, so that it might go well with them and with their children forever!
  • Happy are those whose way is blameless,
    who walk in the law of the Lord.
  • The precepts of the Lord are right,
    rejoicing the heart;
    the commandment of the Lord is clear,
    enlightening the eyes.
  • In the path of your judgments,
    O Lord, we wait for you;
    your name and your renown
    are the soul's desire.

Your decrees are my heritage forever;
they are the joy of my heart.
