Law (3/5)

  • The law of the Lord is perfect,
    reviving the soul;
    the decrees of the Lord are sure,
    making wise the simple.
  • The wise of heart will heed commandments,
    but a babbling fool will come to ruin.
  • Praise the Lord!
    Happy are those who fear the Lord,
    who greatly delight in his commandments.
  • The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
    all those who practice it have a good understanding.
    His praise endures forever.
  • I will never forget your precepts,
    for by them you have given me life.
  • Well then, does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by your doing the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
  • We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by doing the works of the law, because no one will be justified by the works of the law.
  • If any of you sin without knowing it, doing any of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, you have incurred guilt, and are subject to punishment.
  • And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
  • Thus you shall keep my commandments and observe them: I am the Lord.
  • You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name.
  • I do not nullify the grace of God; for if justification comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.
  • The precepts of the Lord are right,
    rejoicing the heart;
    the commandment of the Lord is clear,
    enlightening the eyes.
  • Turn my heart to your decrees,
    and not to selfish gain.
  • You must neither add anything to what I command you nor take away anything from it, but keep the commandments of the Lord your God with which I am charging you.
  • Everyone who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.
  • The sum of your word is truth;
    and every one of your righteous ordinances endures forever.
  • For this is the message you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
  • I the Lord am your God; follow my statutes, and be careful to observe my ordinances, and hallow my sabbaths that they may be a sign between me and you, so that you may know that I the Lord am your God.
  • They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.
  • My child, do not forget my teaching,
    but let your heart keep my commandments;
    for length of days and years of life
    and abundant welfare they will give you.
  • The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain, and wait there; and I will give you the tablets of stone, with the law and the commandment, which I have written for their instruction.”
  • I will praise you with an upright heart,
    when I learn your righteous ordinances.
  • Your decrees are my heritage forever;
    they are the joy of my heart.
  • But now, apart from law, the righteousness of God has been disclosed, and is attested by the law and the prophets, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction.

The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the upright,
but destruction for evildoers.
