Bible Verses about the Law

  • Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.
  • What then? Should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!
  • “All things are lawful,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up.
  • If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I am commanding you today, by loving the Lord your God, walking in his ways, and observing his commandments, decrees, and ordinances, then you shall live and become numerous, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to possess.
  • The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.
  • This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful.
  • By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things.
  • For “no human being will be justified in his sight” by deeds prescribed by the law, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
  • If you will only obey the Lord your God, by diligently observing all his commandments that I am commanding you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.
  • Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.
  • For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
  • In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.
  • But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting
    on those who fear him,
    and his righteousness to children's children,
    to those who keep his covenant
    and remember to do his commandments.
  • So now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? Only to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord your God and his decrees that I am commanding you today, for your own well-being.
  • Do not be mismatched with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship is there between light and darkness?
  • He has told you, O mortal, what is good;
    and what does the Lord require of you
    but to do justice, and to love kindness,
    and to walk humbly with your God?
  • Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
  • And, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
  • All who have sinned apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.
  • With my whole heart I seek you;
    do not let me stray from your commandments.
  • But let justice roll down like waters,
    and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
  • This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
  • Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness before God; and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commandments and do what pleases him.
  • I have chosen the way of faithfulness;
    I set your ordinances before me.
  • Take good care to observe the commandment and instruction that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to keep his commandments, and to hold fast to him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also.
