Law (2/5)

  • Take good care to observe the commandment and instruction that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to keep his commandments, and to hold fast to him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
  • The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also.
  • For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
  • If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
  • What then should we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet, if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
  • The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
  • And keep the charge of the Lord your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn.
  • Do not judge, so that you may not be judged.
  • The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not covet”; and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
  • He declared to you his covenant, which he charged you to observe, that is, the ten commandments; and he wrote them on two stone tablets.
  • Great peace have those who love your law;
    nothing can make them stumble.
  • Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law.
  • All who obey his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit that he has given us.
  • You who want to be justified by the law have cut yourselves off from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.
  • You shall not make gods of silver alongside me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.
  • Let it be known to you therefore, my brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you; by this Jesus everyone who believes is set free from all those sins from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.
  • We have sinned and done wrong, acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and ordinances.
  • If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.
  • The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments; for that is the whole duty of everyone.
  • But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act—they will be blessed in their doing.
  • You must diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his decrees, and his statutes that he has commanded you.
  • There is one lawgiver and judge who is able to save and to destroy. So who, then, are you to judge your neighbor?
  • I delight in the way of your decrees
    as much as in all riches.
  • Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
  • Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.

The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the decrees of the Lord are sure,
making wise the simple.
