- There is a path before each person that seems right,
but it ends in death. - For the Lord is our judge,
our lawgiver, and our king.
He will care for us and save us. - I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God!
For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation
and draped me in a robe of righteousness.
I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding
or a bride with her jewels. - The lips of the godly speak helpful words,
but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words. - O Lord, I have come to you for protection;
don’t let me be disgraced.
Save me, for you do what is right. - He personally carried our sins
in his body on the cross
so that we can be dead to sin
and live for what is right.
By his wounds
you are healed. - Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
- This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another. Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, and the poor. And do not scheme against each other.
- You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.
- You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
- The Lord is righteous in everything he does;
he is filled with kindness. - Don’t envy violent people
or copy their ways.
Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord,
but he offers his friendship to the godly. - So the Lord must wait for you to come to him
so he can show you his love and compassion.
For the Lord is a faithful God.
Blessed are those who wait for his help. - The godly are showered with blessings;
the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions. - Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.”
- Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
- Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.
- The Lord is good and does what is right;
he shows the proper path to those who go astray.
He leads the humble in doing right,
teaching them his way. - Direct your children onto the right path,
and when they are older, they will not leave it. - He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. - Give justice to the poor and the orphan;
uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. - Joyful are people of integrity,
who follow the instructions of the Lord. - Hear my prayer, O Lord;
listen to my plea!
Answer me because you are faithful and righteous. - But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.
- But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.
