- The words of the godly are like sterling silver;
the heart of a fool is worthless. - I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.
- For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the Lord our God has given us.
- Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all.
- For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.
- He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. - Let those who are wise understand these things.
Let those with discernment listen carefully.
The paths of the Lord are true and right,
and righteous people live by walking in them.
But in those paths sinners stumble and fall. - Direct your children onto the right path,
and when they are older, they will not leave it. - But he knows where I am going.
And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.
For I have stayed on God’s paths;
I have followed his ways and not turned aside. - Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.”
- I will teach you wisdom’s ways
and lead you in straight paths. - We have happy memories of the godly,
but the name of a wicked person rots away. - The hopes of the godly result in happiness,
but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing. - Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws;
our heart’s desire is to glorify your name. - Look at the proud!
They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked.
But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God. - He is the Rock; his deeds are perfect.
Everything he does is just and fair.
He is a faithful God who does no wrong;
how just and upright he is! - I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.
- Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.
- For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.
- For you bless the godly, O Lord;
you surround them with your shield of love. - He guards the paths of the just
and protects those who are faithful to him. - Look straight ahead,
and fix your eyes on what lies before you. - For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.
- I don’t want you to die, says the Sovereign Lord. Turn back and live!
- If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.
