- Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation. - For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,

my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. - That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
- Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
- For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
- When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears
and delivers them out of all their troubles.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit. - He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.
- Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
- The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
- But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
- As far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us. - Lead me in your truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all the day long. - For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.
