- Lying lips conceal hatred,
and whoever utters slander is a fool. - Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.
- Words spoken by the wise bring them favor,
but the lips of fools consume them. - Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. You received without payment; give without payment.
- But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy.
- The vine withers,
the fig tree droops.
Pomegranate, palm, and apple—
all the trees of the field are dried up;
surely, joy withers away
among the people. - Honor widows who are really widows.
- May my teaching drop like the rain,

but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend. - Learn to do good;
seek justice,
rescue the oppressed,
defend the orphan,
plead for the widow. - Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.
- For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all, training us to renounce impiety and worldly passions, and in the present age to live lives that are self-controlled, upright, and godly.
- By faith he received power of procreation, even though he was too old—and Sarah herself was barren—because he considered him faithful who had promised.
- A fool despises a parent's instruction,
but the one who heeds admonition is prudent. - So those who welcomed his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand persons were added.
- Speak out, judge righteously,

but the wise quietly holds it back. - While God has overlooked the times of human ignorance, now he commands all people everywhere to repent.
- I did not shrink from doing anything helpful, proclaiming the message to you and teaching you publicly and from house to house.
