- Choose a good reputation over great riches;

- As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching.

an endless river of righteous living. - We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.
- Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
- A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
- The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs. The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife.
- For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
- Avoid all perverse talk;
stay away from corrupt speech. - Rejoice, O people of Zion!
Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem!
Look, your king is coming to you.
He is righteous and victorious,
yet he is humble, riding on a donkey—
riding on a donkey’s colt. - Work brings profit,
but mere talk leads to poverty! - He heals the brokenhearted
and bandages their wounds. - But Lord, you remain the same forever!
Your throne continues from generation to generation. - He proclaimed his covenant—the Ten Commandments—which he commanded you to keep, and which he wrote on two stone tablets.
- The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.
- Hiding hatred makes you a liar;
slandering others makes you a fool. - Love prospers when a fault is forgiven,
but dwelling on it separates close friends. - Learn to do good.
Seek justice.
Help the oppressed.
Defend the cause of orphans.
Fight for the rights of widows. - Let my teaching fall on you like rain;
let my speech settle like dew.
Let my words fall like rain on tender grass,
like gentle showers on young plants. - You must not covet your neighbor’s house. You must not covet your neighbor’s wife, male or female servant, ox or donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbor.
- For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.
- Plans go wrong for lack of advice;
many advisers bring success.
