- This water prefigured Baptism, which now saves you. It does so not by the washing away of dirt from the body but by the pledge of a good conscience given to God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- Thus there are three things that endure: faith, hope, and love,
and the greatest of these is love. - But Jesus has now received a ministry that is far superior, for he is the mediator of a far better covenant that has been established on better promises.
- To you, O God of my fathers,
I offer thanks and praise
because you have given me wisdom and power.
Now you have made known to me
what we asked of you;
you have revealed to us the king’s dream. - For we walk by faith, not by sight.
- May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
- But as for me, I will look to the Lord.
I place my hope in God my savior;
my God will hear me. - Do not judge, so that you in turn may not be judged.
- Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
- Although you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with a joy that is indescribable and glorious. For you are achieving the goal of your faith, that is, the salvation of your souls.
- But now the righteousness of God that is attested by the Law and the Prophets has been manifested apart from law: the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. No distinction has been made.
- Therefore, now that we have been justified by faith, we are at peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
- To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
- Beloved,
we are God’s children now.
What we shall be
has not yet been revealed.
However, we do know that when he appears
we shall be like him,
for we shall see him as he really is.
Everyone who has this hope in him
keeps himself pure,
just as he is pure. - Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares about you.
- And now, brethren, I want to remind you of the gospel I proclaimed to you, which you received and in which you stand firm. Through it you are also being saved, provided that you are holding fast to what I proclaimed to you. If not, then you have believed in vain.
- And so now, O Israel, what does the Lord, your God, require of you but to fear the Lord, your God, to walk in all of his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, and to observe the commandments and the statutes that I am giving you today for your own good.
- You are all-beautiful, my love,
without the slightest blemish. - Now in regard to the eating of meat sacrificed to idols, we know that idols are nothing in the world and that there is only one God.
- The Lord makes poor and makes rich,
he humbles and he also exalts. - Hence, be subject to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
- Therefore say to them, “Thus says the Lord God: The fulfillment of my words will not be delayed any longer. What I have said will be done now. This is the word of the Lord God.”
- The Lord God said, “Behold, man has become like one of us, for he has knowledge of that which is good and that which is evil. Now, we must prevent him from reaching out and taking the fruit of the tree of life lest he eat it and live forever.” The Lord God cast him out of the Garden of Eden; henceforth he was to labor tilling the soil from which he had come.
- Then Peter addressed them: “I now understand how true it is that God has no favorites, but that in every nation all those who fear God and do what is right are acceptable to him.”
- And now, brethren, farewell. Mend your ways. Encourage one another. Be of one mind and live in peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.
Jesus answered them,
“My teaching is not my own;
rather, it comes from him who sent me.”Each of us must consider his neighbor’s good for the purpose of building him up.
