- Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
- Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
- Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him;
do not fret over those who prosper in their way,
over those who carry out evil devices. - For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
- Tell slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect; they are not to talk back, not to pilfer, but to show complete and perfect fidelity, so that in everything they may be an ornament to the doctrine of God our Savior.

For you have been a fortress for me
and a refuge in the day of my distress. - In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; God has made the one as well as the other, so that mortals may not find out anything that will come after them.
- Why do you see the speck in your neighbor's eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye?
- For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, “Abba! Father!”

- Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.
- What are human beings that you are mindful of them,
mortals that you care for them? - Know then in your heart that as a parent disciplines a child so the Lord your God disciplines you.
- Come to a sober and right mind, and sin no more; for some people have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
- But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you.
- O Lord, you have searched me and known me.
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from far away. - For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
- Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
- While God has overlooked the times of human ignorance, now he commands all people everywhere to repent.
- If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
- Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly.
- You must follow exactly the path that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live, and that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land that you are to possess.
- But I do not count my life of any value to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the good news of God's grace.
- Well then, does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by your doing the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
