| Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. | Pleasing words are like a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and affording health to the body. |
| By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. | This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples: if you love one another. |
| What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. | What then? Should we sin because we are not under the Law but under grace? Of course not! |
| Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. | No, throughout all these things we are conquerors because of him who loved us. |
| The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. | The precepts of the Lord are right, causing the heart to rejoice. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving light to the eyes. |
| But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. | When Jesus heard this, he said, “It is not the healthy who need a physician, but rather those who are sick.” |
| The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly. | The whispers of a gossiper are tasty morsels that corrode one’s inner being. |
| And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. | God chose those in the world who were lowly and despised, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who were regarded as worthy, so that no one could boast in the presence of God. |
| Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? | Do you not realize that you are God’s temple, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? |
| But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. | But you, O Lord, are a shield to protect me; you are my glory and the one who raises my head high. |
| It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. | The love of the Lord is never exhausted, nor do his deeds of mercy ever come to an end. They are renewed every morning; his faithfulness never ceases. |
| But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. | For us there is one God, the Father, from whom all things are and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and through whom we exist. |
| Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. | You have already been cleansed by the word I have spoken to you. |
| Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. | Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will have their fill. |
| For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. | For to you a thousand years are like a yesterday that has passed or one of the watches of the night. |
| For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. | For sin is no longer to have any power over you, since you are not under the Law but under grace. |
| Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word. | You are my refuge and my shield; I put my hope in your word. |
| For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. | For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. |
