- And walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
- All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
- As the deer pants for streams of water,

turn your ear to my words.
Do not let them out of your sight,
keep them within your heart. - Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
- Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross! - My son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,
for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you peace and prosperity. - My son, keep your father’s command
and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. - Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
- While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
- For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
- As water reflects the face,
so one’s life reflects the heart. - The wealth of the rich is their fortified city;
they imagine it a wall too high to scale. - The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
- Your statutes are my heritage forever;
they are the joy of my heart.
I have swept away your offenses like a cloud,
your sins like the morning mist.
